Biography
About the Acko Team
As owner, President of Acko Earth Solutions, Mike oversees the strategic vision and business development of the organization. Mike’s passion is business development and he started his first business at the age of 18 in industrial First Aid services at Ackshaw Enterprises.
In addition to business development, Mike is committed to proudly serving his First Nations community. He was elected as a Band Councilor for the Doig River First Nation at the age of 19. He primarily advised on the Nation’s social, economic, political and cultural relationships, and provided leadership to establish agreements with industry and government regulators. Throughout his career, Mike has gained expertise working with many Indigenous organizations across Canada and prides himself on giving back to the Indigenous and local communities where his businesses are operated.
Mike Acko is proud to be focused on sustainable, environmentally responsible ways of Clearing and Seismic Acquisition. He believes that business can be done in a responsible and ethical manner that supports the social and economic prosperity of Local and Indigenous Communities. Mike has always focused on advancing the Indigenous communities through leadership and promoting health and wellness. Mike is an Indigenous mental health, physical health and wellness advocate and you will see some of his work through his Men’s Health and Wellness Conference, held annually. The conference will be called “Samaneh”, which translates in his Indigenous Beaver Language to “My Man”.

Working With Acko Earth Solutions
Acko Earth Solutions Inc. is committed to maintaining a strong and effective health, safety and environmental program that protects our employees, the public, as well as equipment, materials, and the environment from injuries, damage, or loss, due to the actions of company personnel.
Acko Earth Solutions Inc. will comply with all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation to the best of its ability. Management is dedicated to the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment by identifying safety risks and needs, communicating hazard alerts, investigating hazards and all incidents, providing training, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and meets government safety standards.
It is imperative that all managers, supervisors, employees, visitors, and contracting employers cooperate with one another to achieve a safe work environment. Each individual is expected to work in a diligent and professional manner that promotes a safe, healthy, and clean environment.
All employees are expected to fully cooperate with the company in its desire to prevent all types of incidents and to cooperate in the investigation of incidents with investigators. It is the duty of each worker/employee to bring to the attention of their supervisor any unsafe condition, practice, incident (including near misses) or environmentally unfriendly circumstance immediately or to seek their advice where unsure.
Specific responsibilities and safe job procedures are outlined in detail in the Health & Safety Manual, but as a minimum, all employees should be aware of fire precautions, emergency preparedness, hazard assessments, good housekeeping practices, industry recommended practices and general safety rules.
Supervisors are expected to ensure that all workers under their care reach competency goals and are adhering to all safety policies. We acknowledge and appreciate the work that our employees do and expect their continued commitment to safety and environmental awareness in their daily activities.
